About Us: Canvas Health, a nonprofit Certified Community Behavioral Health Center, offers a comprehensive continuum of care for children and their families who struggle with mental health symptoms that impact their ability to function successfully at home, in school and within the community. The school-based program at Canvas Health serves 5 school districts across the metro area. We work to provide accessible mental health services to children and their families primarily in the school setting. Internship Description: MSW interns will work closely with our school-based mental health providers. Interns will be connected with a therapist and one school community, and will have the opportunity to collaborate and work closely with our school-based team across sites. Interns will work with their on-site supervisor to accurately diagnose and come up with treatment plans for students. Over the course of time, interns will provide individual therapy and possible family therapy. They will support our grant tracking through accurate progress monitoring and timely paperwork. Interns will receive supervision, collaboration/sign-off on completion of field forms. This is a paid internship for the 2023-2024 school year: $10.59 per hour. Internship Site: We have a variety of sites for the 2023-2024 school year. We will have two middle school sites in the North St. Paul/Maplewood school district and another middle school in Forest Lake. There is an elementary school in South Minneapolis that has an intern opening this year as well as a level 4 special education elementary school in Lake Elmo. Travel mileage is eligible for reimbursement. Clients: Clients will be students from the school and their families. Relationships: You will work closely with your direct supervisor who will be onsite with you. You will also form relationships with out school-based program supervisors and other team clinicians. We encourage you to participate in our weekly team meetings where you will learn from a variety of therapists. You will build relationships with school staff as well, and are invited to participate in school meetings with a multi-disciplinary team.
