POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES GLA educators are fired up about teaching and learning. They want to spend their time immersing themselves in the rich content that they teach. The Reading Intervention Teacher will be responsible for Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading intervention from grade 4-8. This individual will respond to internal benchmark data, identifying scholars who need additional support to the regular education environment. Based on this data, the interventionist will provide individual and group instruction, growth monitor , and communicate with parents, teachers, and school administration. The interventionist will provide reading specific professional development for the teaching staff and coaching when as directed. EDUCATION Reading Specialist Certification strongly recommended or proof of current school enrollment working toward certification Teacher Certification in elementary or secondary education A minimum of 3 years of direct classroom teaching experience as a teacher A minimum of 3 years of teaching reading GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES   Primary Role:(60%) Direct intervention of tier 3 support in reading for scholars in K-3 or 4-8 grades using evidence-based programs aligned to the Science of Reading Regular progress monitoring, documentation, and communication with teachers and families regarding scholar progress Secondary Role: (40%) Evaluation of school-wide data to identify trends in reading data for targeted intervention and training Works collaboratively with DOI providing pedagogical content knowledge for teachers grades K-3 or 4-8 in weekly professional learning communities Works collaboratively with DOI to lead data meetings weekly for 30 minutes with grade teams for teachers in grades K-3 or 4-8 Member of the MTSS team, providing wholistic support to school-wide community Provide targeted coaching and feedback to teachers based on classroom observations to assigned teachers to caseload QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional and assessment practices in the teaching of reading at the earliest grade levels and the science of reading Knowledge of and ability to apply elementary and middle school curriculum, current staff development methods and programs Knowledge of and ability to apply classroom management and scholar assessment with scholars-at-risk Knowledge of current educational research, program evaluation, and program effectiveness Ability to organize work and multi-task the work load between serving as a lead teacher and performing Literacy duties Proven ability to work well with adults, parents and other staff members Demonstrated ability to analyze raw data and develop programming for scholars Successful experience teaching reading to students-at-risk of failing or students with other exceptional learning needs DIVERSITY AT GLA SCHOOLS GLA is committed to building a diverse and inclusive community, both through our hiring practices and our focus on creating a culture and environment where diverse perspectives, ideas, and identities are valued and integrated into our way of working and educating scholars.
