At AMERICAN , the Information Services Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects. Manages multiple projects simultaneously and takes those projects from the original conceptual phase through the post-implementation phase. Utilizes project management concepts, processes, and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within budget, meet or exceed quality standards and customer expectations. Actively works with internal customers, external consultants and vendors to define project scope, budgets, resources, and schedules. This role develops detailed work plans and is responsible for tracking key project milestones and making necessary adjustments to plans and/or resources to meet customer needs. Provides technical and analytical guidance to team members. Conducts feasibility studies for new systems or modifications to existing systems. Communicates with vendors and participates in Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Makes recommendations to Information Services Management and Executive Management to support company goals and business processes. Secures project team members from appropriate business units and supervises, trains, and assigns project tasks to team members. Secures executive support of project and ensures management is updated throughout the project phases. Manages projects through the use of project management principles and methodologies (i.e. PMBOK). Trains other project managers and team members on the use of project management principles and methodologies. Maintains project budget and ensures project remains on schedule and within the budget. Proactively addresses budgetary issues as they arise. Works with customers to identify and agree on system requirements, project scope, and to schedule deliverables. Ensures projects are of the highest quality with available resources and secures external consulting when required. Identifies project risks and is accountable for decisions made throughout the life of a project. Prepares and maintains project work plans, manages resources through the use of work plans, and provides periodic updates to Information Services Management, Executive Management, and Project Sponsor or Steering Committee groups. Effectively communicates with project resources, sponsors, and end-users. Makes decisions for project teams and presents issues to Management when team cannot determine resolutions. Manages multiple projects and project teams, concurrently. Suggests technical and business solutions to project team members. Supports system analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation and provides guidance for team throughout the life of the project. Ensures users are adequately trained on system use. Ensures user documentation is prepared, is accurate, and distributed to the necessary departments. Ensures user acceptance and satisfaction of delivered system. Documents positives and negatives throughout the project and prepares post-implementation audit to be distributed to Management. Ensures users are adequately supported after implementation of systems or applications. Contributes to team member employee performance evaluation as appropriate. Keeps work area clean and orderly. Knows safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety. Reports malfunction of equipment to proper authority. Performs other work as instructed by supervision. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or Information Systems; or an equivalent degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required. A transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be provided. Must have extensive experience in systems analysis and design. Skills and Competencies Must have supervisory and leadership skills. Must have extensive experience in systems analysis and design. Must exhibit good oral and written communication skills (i.e. good command of grammar and spelling). Preferred Requirements Possesses Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Has f amiliarity and experience with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Experience leading large software implementation projects spanning multiple companies or divisions. Has supervisory experience. Extensive experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera. EOE/VETS/DISABILITY
