The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking coaches for our Lafayette YMCA Youth Swim Team, the Sharks. Our assistant coaches will play a role in all facets of building and maintaining our high quality, competitive swim programs. This includes direct coaching and supervision for swim practices and meets for young people ages 5-18, providing leadership to all participants, building strong confident swimmers, creating challenging and fun swim workouts and interacting regularly with parents of our swimmers. You will report to the team's head coach. Position start is flexible before mid-April and season runs through early August with meets on up to four Saturdays over the course of the season. Meets will be scheduled from 8am-1pm. Lafayette team practices are weekdays from 7am-10am. You do not need to be available for all days to apply. Additional opportunities, up to full time 40 hrs/week for summer, are available in our aquatics department. You might be the right candidate if you are an energetic and enthusiastic individual with the ability to act in a caring and responsible manner. We're looking for a team player with strong communication skills and a good role model with competitive swim/coaching experience. Qualifications Must hold current certifications in First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen and CPR-PR or the willingness to obtain prior to start date. Safety Training for Swim Coaches or willingness to obtain prior to start date. USA Swimming Coach Certification or completion of certification prior to start date. Previous swim coaching experience preferred. Strong knowledge of swimming as a sport to include but not limited to rules and regulations, skill development, training plans, swimmer education and motivation, parent involvement, competition and team administration. Salary range $16.50-27 per hour based on experience. All YMCA of Northern Colorado part-time staff working 10+ hours each week are eligible to receive a free family membership. Staff who work 10+ hours a week earn 50% to 100% off our programs. That includes free YMCA traditional day camp, youth sports, learn to skate and swim lessons, and half off YMCA Camp Santa Maria overnight camp, personal training, specialty summer camps, and childcare. If you work 20+ hours a week, your benefits grow from there. Sick time is earned from day 1, and we make contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff.
