Position Summary Concordia University Ann Arbor seeks applicants for a full-time, twelve-month department chair position in Sport and Hospitality Business in the Batterman and Haab Schools of Business beginning August 1, 2023 or later. This is a full-time position. This person will teach courses primarily in Sport and Entertainment Business with potential to teach courses in Hospitality and Event Business. This position is located on the Ann Arbor, MI, campus. The courses to be taught will cover a range of levels (from basic to intermediate to advanced levels). The candidate taking this position will play an important role in further building and growing one of the largest Sport and Hospitality programs in the region, which also includes leveraging local-to-international partnerships. Job Duties and Responsibilities Serve as faculty within, and potentially as the chair of, the Department of Sport and Hospitality Business Teach assigned undergraduate business courses (in hospitality and event business and/or sport and entertainment business), and possibly graduate courses related to sport and entertainment business Exhibit commitment to the growth of the Sport and Hospitality Business program through ongoing professional networking, advocating on behalf of the program and deserving students, and the initiation and management of multiple student recruitment/retention strategies Oversee the Sport and Hospitality Business curriculum, including curriculum development, implementation, and assessment for traditional and accelerated learning modalities Ensure equitable distribution of faculty workload on both campuses Comply with University and accrediting body policies and standards Supervise, orient, evaluate, and promote professional development of Sport and Hospitality Business faculty (full-time and part-time) Hire and coordinate Sport and Hospitality Business adjunct instructors Develop and equitably administer program budgets between the CUW and CUAA campuses Chair department faculty meetings Serve on University and school committees Manage Sport and Hospitality programs and courses associated with the CUWAA Office of International Affairs Serve as a role model for scholar-practitioner research and teaching excellence Other duties that align with the University and School of Business strategic priorities Education and Experience Earned doctorate in sport management, hospitality management, or related business field, or another field with successful management-level sport and hospitality business experience. Candidates who successfully complete their doctorate program by December 31, 2023, will also be considered. Evidence of scholarly/research productivity appropriate for an institution of higher education A broad-based business education, demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching and scholarship, experience with curriculum development, and successful management-level business experience. A growth mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, innovative thinking, and a willingness to collaborate with academic and industry experts Exhibit and model traits consistent with Christian servant leadership, business professionalism, and lifelong learning Physical Demands/Equipment (Click to View) Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time, exempt (salary) faculty position. The starting wage is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
