Electrical Engineer Pacific, Missouri SUMMARY: The Electrical Engineering assists with the development and documentation of electronic and electrical system requirements for testing vehicle engine management components. Develops and/or modifies hardware and software designs based on defined requirements. Researches new technologies for potential application to company business needs. Assists in the design of new sensor products. Creates schematics, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and mechanical drawings to build test systems. Other responsibilities include the evaluation of engine components on vehicles, procedures and specifications for sensor testing, modification of existing applications where appropriate, support for the manufacturing area, and design of sensor subcomponents. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Programs Arduino firmware and associated peripherals in system designs Programs other microcontrollers where applicable Experience is preferred in C++ programming, PIC programming, or microcontroller programming Develops spreadsheet with formulas to calculate and analyze test data. Creates schematic and system drawings using schematic CAD and PCB Layout program Designs electrical/electronic sub-systems to component level Modifies existing applications where needed, initiates modifications when needed Designs new sensor components for vehicle monitoring Assists with the design of PLC controlled testing of engine operations and functions Will possibly design vehicle road test equipment for monitoring sensors in real world environment Design cable harness and create wiring diagrams Supports the manufacturing area on sensor design and test issues Continual improvement in meeting the timing requirements and accuracy for the above items Performs system tests to verify operational and functional requirements Works with other engineers to develop mechanical hardware and fixturing for sensor testing. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates engine components on vehicles Develops test criteria and analyzes data for vehicle engine management components Develops designs for new sensor subcomponents where needed Participates in the development of manufacturing systems for sensor subcomponents Because of the changing nature of our business, this job description will inevitably change. The employee will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within his/her capabilities as directed by management. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: BS in Electrical Engineering or more than six years equivalent experience Advanced use of Excel, Access, and other MSOffice products Ability to use AutoCAD Software Experience in the automotive industry a plus Previous experience with vehicles and engines Previous experience with engine components is preferred Ability to work in a team environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. May require lifting of up to 40 pounds.
