This is a hybrid role, where the candidate will be expected to travel to either the Cincinnati OH office or the Fort Myers FL office. *Candidates can live in OHIO, INDIANA, KENTUCKY, FLORIDA* Terrasmart is the leading turn-key solution provider for solar mounting systems. Location Hybrid opportunity requiring minimum of 2 days onsite in the Fort Myers FL or Cincinnati OH office. Position Summary The innovation engineer partners with cross-functional teams such as business leaders, engineers, and external partners to identify and develop new business opportunities through innovative ideas. They will be responsible for developing the business case and a plan for the further development of these opportunities. Primary Responsibilties (Essential Duties) Complete all required or directed training, certification, licensing, and other learning and development as assigned. Abide by all Federal, State, and local laws; uphold and maintain accountability to all Company policy. Identify market needs: Research and analyze customer needs, industry trends, and market data to identify problems that can be addressed with new products or product improvements. Quantify the need: Determine the size and potential value of the identified problem and assess customer willingness to pay for a solution. Understand customer needs: Gather and translate customer requirements into product development requirements using established systems and frameworks. Conceptualize the product: Utilize creativity and innovation to develop ideas for potential solutions to identified problems. Validate the solution: Test the feasibility, value, and customer appeal of the proposed product solution, including identifying and addressing technical risks and analyzing data, pipelines, financial performance, and other systems. Build a roadmap: Develop a plan for achieving development goals and priorities, including identifying and addressing the most pressing challenges in order to legitimize the product concept. Prototyping: Create a minimum viable product (MVP) to validate the product concept and gather initial user feedback. Release to users: Conduct experiments with the MVP to assess interest, price sensitivity, marketing channels, and packaging. Ongoing feedback: Continuously gather and analyze customer feedback to inform product expansion and enhancements, and to identify new strategic goals for the product. Monitor competitors and regularly assess the company's capabilities. Collaborate with internal teams: Work effectively with teams such as finance, engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and operations to ensure that business requirements are fully understood and met. Provide product training: Educate internal and external stakeholders on how to use the product and serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert for the business. Answer customer questions: Respond to incoming inquiries about the product and its capabilities. All other duties as assigned. Secondary Accountabilities Attend program meetings as required. Physical Requirements Work requires large amounts of time spent using a computer with multiple monitors and performing repetitive movements with head, eyes, hands, and fingers. May occasionally bend or twist at the waist, move while carrying up to 20 lbs. Must be able to see and evaluate written and computerized documents, listen, and communicate to internal and external customers. May occasionally travel long distances requiring a seated or stationary position for long periods while exposed to the public. Work Conditions Environment: In-Office Requirement with Hybrid flex Travel: 25% Special Work Conditions: Work will primarily take place indoors, in an environmentally controlled area. Incumbent may experience stress in the workplace including, but not limited to customer service complaints, competing priorities of reasonable or high significance, and/or working through the exchange of ideas with others. Will routinely direct the work of others. Will occasionally travel to site locations and projects requiring adherence to site specific Health and Safety Plans due to past or current uses, which includes the wear of PPE and other site-specific clothing requirements.
