The YWCA of Greater Cleveland is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. We are currently searching for a Bus Driver for our Early Learning Center. The YWCA incorporates a therapeutic approach and two-generational model into the Early Learning Center model to best serve children age 3-5. This innovative trauma-informed model will assess and identify the social-emotional needs of the children, work with families to create case plans, achieve goals, prevent re-occurrence of homelessness, and empower families to achieve and maintain the highest level of self-sufficiency. Full-time 40 hours weekly: split shift schedule 6:45 am-10:45 am and then 2 pm-6pm. Under the general supervision of the ELC Administrator or Site Supervisor, the Bus Driver has the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the children, staff and volunteers during bus transportation to and from the center and on field trips. It is also the role of the Bus Driver to: guarantee that the bus is clean and in proper working condition at all times; determine and follow safe and efficient bus routes; ensure all children are in age appropriate child safety restraints; assist in ensuring child/staff ratio is maintained on the bus and provide day to day guidance to the Bus Aides; maintain all transportation records required by the program; ensure bus evacuation drills are held at least monthly; and, evacuate children in case of emergency; The Bus Driver also acts as a link between the parents and the Early Learning Center. Education: Possess a Valid Ohio Driver's License, and be certified in First Aid and CPR for all age groups transported. Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age. Successful experience as a School Bus Driver preferred; Knowledgeable of the challenges and strengths of low-income and homeless families. Effective oral and written communication skills commensurate with the responsibilities of the position are required.
