Join us to help make a difference. We are currently seeking a full-time Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Bay Minette, Alabama. Learn more about us in this video: https://bit.ly/3Jp3Dez and visit our website: https://www.smeinc.com/ Job Snapshot: Working outside to conduct construction materials field testing (soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, etc.) to ensure compliance with industry standards and/or project specifications A tremendous opportunity to develop leadership skills while working on a high profile megasite project and others across the construction industry Performing work to serve our clients, improve our communities and contribute to our company's overall success Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation of field observations on construction sites Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects. Daily use of Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management system Calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards Communicating daily with management staff, general contractors, and clients Required Qualifications: High school diploma/GED 3-5 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials or equivalent experience and an associate degree in a related field Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to work and maneuver equipment, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites Willingness to travel out-of-town for short duration assignments Ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device Preferred Qualifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete Why work at S&ME?
