Position Description The Night Maintenance Assistant role is responsible for second-shift paint line and facility cleaning (specifically, cleaning booths, replacing filters, etc.). Coordinates with day shift to continue burning off of racks/hooks during second shift. Assists in after-hours loading and unloading of trucks in shipping department. Critical Outcomes Line 2 and Line 4 paint booths are prepared for next production day. Line 1 clean room area is prepared (cleaned) for next production day. Any necessary burnoff operations are performed to prepare for next production day. Beltwasher cleaning and prep work are performed next production day. Assists shipping department during after hours. Key Competencies Works efficiently with minimal supervision Setting priorities Responsibilities Reports to the production manager at the end of day shift for daily assignments. In the absence of the production manager, checks in with the primary line supervisors (Lines 1, 2, 6) to verify any daily racking needs. Coordinates with day-shift stripping room operator to facilitate any hook and rack burnoff operations on second shift. Gathers and processes (loads, unloads) hooks/racks at the end of the production day as needed or as directed by line supervisors and production manager. Changes out or cleans filters and floor coverings in the Line 2, Batch, and Line 4 liquid booths, daily or as directed. Cleans floors in the Line 1 cleanroom area in preparation for the next production day. Maintains beltwasher, which includes cleaning, draining, and refilling stages. Cleans (pressure washes) parts and racking coming out of the burnoff oven. Manages after-hour operation of the shipping and receiving dock. Loads and unloads trucks and processes shipping paperwork as needed. Performs limited daily line cleaning tasks as directed. Assists the Line 4 staff with operation of the heat clean oven as needed. Assists the stripping department with processing parts as needed. Assists second shift facility maintenance as needed. Assists second shift facility maintenance with securing the building at the end of the second shift as needed. Performs tasks safely and utilizes proper PPE for each task as directed by the safety department. May be certified for forklift truck operation. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes of airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the factory work environment is usually quiet on second shift. In the factory environment, the employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery floors.
