Teen Program Support Staff at the Boulder YMCA

Description:
As a member of the Teen Program Staff, you will assist at our Teen Programs including Teen Night Outs, Teen Days of Service and School Days Off. During these events, teens from our service area come together to spend time with peers and mentors in a safe, supportive setting. Active play, sharing circles, crafts and field trips are the typical offerings during this time, but we also head out into the community to engage in service projects and volunteer opportunities. You'll help to create a positive environment where staff and participants enjoy safe adventures, make new friends and have amazing experiences. Teen events occur on average 2-3 times per month with opportunities during the day and evenings. RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and provide leadership and mentorship to middle schoolers and young teens during teen program hours Ensure all participants have completed proper waivers and registration paperwork Work with association and branch departments (aquatics, sports, health and wellness, etc.) to reserve spaces and specialty staff for teen activities Communicate with parents and guardians about program events and provide relevant feedback on teen participant Drive the mini bus as needed to and from field trip locations Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures and attends staff meetings and trainings as required REQUIREMENTS: 21 years of age or older Current First-aid and CPR certification Minimum of 6 months relevant experience working in youth development Mature judgment and sound decision-making Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisor Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency Salary range $16-20/hr based on experience, qualifications, and availability. In addition, we offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English. All YMCA of Northern Colorado part-time staff working 10+ hours each week are eligible to receive a free family membership. Staff who work 10+ hours a week earn 50% to 100% off our programs. That includes free YMCA traditional day camp, youth sports, learn to skate and swim lessons, and half off YMCA Camp Santa Maria overnight camp, personal training, specialty summer camps, and childcare. If you work 20+ hours a week, your benefits grow from there. Sick time is earned from day 1, and we make contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff.
