Responsibilities: Security Solutions Design & Maintenance - Collaborate with other technical teams to understand networking and adjacent systems and their business context. Research and design security solutions that satisfy requirements for risk management and operational effectiveness. Assess data transit security, related authentication systems, and supporting controls to ensure policy compliance and recommend improvements. Contribute to team efforts that implement and administrative, technical, and physical controls that protect company information systems, data, and personnel. Security Operations - Maintain organizational threat & vulnerability management awareness, systems, processes, and procedures. Understand the evolving threat landscape, assess company asset exposure, and carry out daily activities that support security goals. Collaborate with IT teams to complete remediation efforts. Recommend improvements and take appropriate steps to ensure that the organization's infrastructure, data, and assets are suitably protected. Documentation - Review, assess, and update security documentation, including policies, standards, baselines, and procedures. Maintain and update reporting processes that communicate key security KPI's to stakeholders. Incident Management - Participate in all stages of incident response, including detection, response, mitigation, reporting, remediation, recovery, and lessons learned. Security Culture - Act as a champion for the company's security aware culture. Establish and foster cross team relationships, promote informed, educated security decision making across the organization. Strive toward a culture of continuous improvement by advancing personal and team skills and capabilities. Job Requirements Required At least five years of network engineering work experience Two years of work experience in a security focused role At least one network security focused certification, i.e. CCNP Security or equivalent Advanced knowledge of networking technologies, architecture concepts, and the ability to conduct in-depth analysis of configurations to identify security risk Deep experience implementing technical security controls, including IAAA, wireless security, 802.1x, network access control, IDS/IPS, cryptography and data-in-transit protection Experience with advanced network and application firewalls, ideally Cisco or Palo Alto products Strong understanding of risk management principles and techniques, such as IAM, threat modeling, access control, penetration testing, defense in depth, change management Solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks Ability to prosper in a fast paced, constantly changing environment High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and ethics Exceptional communication and collaboration skills  Desired Experience with Azure or AWS networking and security configurations Technical experience with Windows and Linux operating system security configuration Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as PowerShell or Python Experience with Agile project management techniques Financial industry experience Experience with regulated environments such as PCI, HIPAA, GLBA, SOX, FFIEC A Day in the Life of an Information Security Network Engineer Act as the security advocate for network infrastructure Work closely with the Network Engineering team Review, design, and jointly recommend improvements to network infrastructure and related security systems configuration Contribute to design, planning, and implementation of security related projects Assist with architecture and improvement activities to ensure secure implementation Maintain awareness of current, real time security status Assess alerts, investigate IOC's, document, and respond as appropriate Collaborate with the MDR service team to assess current security status Initiate response procedures as required Perform vulnerability management activities Review patch and vulnerability notifications as issued Discovery, validation, remediation tracking Scan, test, assess, and review systems configurations and security control posture Collaborate with IT teams to shepherd remediations through to completion Write, review, and update security documentation, respond to audit requests At SILAC Insurance Company, our core values are not just a requirement, they are a standard by which we live.
