Job Title: Upper School Physics Classroom Teacher Employment Status : Full Time, Exempt Reports to: Upper School Principal 7-12 Start Date: August 2023 Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm; Following the school calendar. Additional time as needed for after-school meetings, conferences, and professional development Job Summary: Teaching a schedule of five physics classes in an eight-class schedule. The physics classes can range from college preparatory physics and honors physics. Job Responsibilities: Create lesson plans and labs based on sound, research-based methods of instruction. This course has a significant lab component, and the applicant should be familiar with designing and integrating laboratory investigations as a focus of their classroom learning. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of adolescent students. Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of student achievement. Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, email, phone calls and conferences. Integrate technology and current lab techniques to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Maintaining accurate, complete, and current records of student progress, achievement, and behavior. Work collaboratively faculty and staff. This includes, but is not limited to, working with the Upper School faculty team and the Upper School science department. Qualifications: 4-year degree in education with a focus in physics Licensed teacher with 7-12 certification for the state of Ohio with a focus on physics Two years of teaching experience or field experience, preferred. Experience in teaching high school physics or physical science, preferred Experience working with a learning management system, like Canvas Must be a committed Christian who is comfortable in a multi-denominational Christian community CHCA is an equal opportunity employer. MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
