Exempt: Non-Exempt Base Wage: $22.00 Reports to: Program Manager Department: Children and Family Services Supervisory Position: N/A Program: Children and Family Services Location: Maricopa County Position Type: Regular Date: April 2023 General Description Complete Home Studies and evaluations on potential placements relatives, parents, foster care families, adoptive families for referred children from other states to be placed in Arizona through the Interstate Compact for Placement of Children ( ICPC) Provide courtesy supervision of a child from another state who is placed in Arizona in order to meet the sending State's responsibility of visiting the child(ren) and to prepare and submit reports on the child's current status as required by ICPC. To Complete an adoption certification study to the Court for an ICPC identified family which includes recommendation for certification as required by the Department of Child Safety. Program Aide Essential Duties & Responsibilities WEIGHT DESCRIPTION 30 Accept all service request received from the ICPC Department of Child Safety coordinators. Confirming the potential placement resource is interested in being a placement resource for the child and is willing to cooperate with the ICPC process. Including the name and correct physical and mailing address of the placement resource and all available telephone numbers and other contact information for the potential placement resource; Complete requested referral of home assessment or Adoption as requested by the Department of Child Safety. Monitor Child(ren) when child is placed in home. Complete monthly and quarterly reports of home monitoring. ADCS Oversight Staff Caseload Ratio 1. Maricopa (Basic 1:20) 10 Maintain a data tracking system in Family drive and hard files. Respond to emails, phone calls and text. 10 Investigate complaints on foster homes and work cooperatively with law enforcement, child protective services and adult protective services as needed. 10 Participate in team meetings and/or individual supervision to review ongoing case plans 10 Develop and maintain relationships with collaborating agencies, local communities and congregations. Attend area coalition meetings; represent LSS-SW in public relations, educational and professional situations. Assist in coordinating specials events (i.e. Foster Parent Appreciation and Family Fun Events). Develop written materials for foster parents (i.e. handbook, brochures). 5 Provide excellent customer service and exhibit respectful, professional conduct in all communications, including in-person, written, and via technology. This includes good working communication with ADCS and DDD; the ability to set appropriate professional boundaries; to respond to and manage conflict that may arise; and to maintain a positive, customer-oriented attitude at all times. 5 Maintain an established work schedule, including a high level of self-direction and responsibility. May include extensive travel throughout the State of Arizona. 2.5 Follow internal protocol immediately with regard to safeguarding the safety, health, and the environment of the member and the worker's workspace and workplace equipment. 2.5 Maintain current/renewal status for professional credentials. 2.5 Present a professional attitude and wear professional attire at all times. 2.5 All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Requirements To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; Bachelors Degree or; and Require staff providing licensing and certification services to foster or adoptive families to have a minimum of one (1) year that can be a combination of education, experience and completed training necessary for the type of service they are delivering. Ability to relate well with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities; Experience in cultural diversity; Ability to assess a family's strengths and weaknesses Experience in mediation and other interventions; Ability to recognize signs of abuse/neglect in the foster homes Must show proof of freedom from TB before client contact; provide and maintain a current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and current certification in First Aid and CPR; clear the Department of Economic Security Central Registry Background Check, and a criminal background and motor vehicle screening; must maintain valid AZ Driver's License, a clear driving record and reliable transportation for the duration of employment. Obtain training as required by ADCS and DDD within 120 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent interviewing, perceptual, diagnostic and family assessment skills. Ability to relate well with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds and ethnicities. Experience in cultural diversity. Ability to assess family's strengths and weaknesses. Experience in mediation and other interventions. Ability to recognize signs of abuse/neglect in the foster homes Knowledge of state child welfare-related laws and judicial decisions; Division policies and procedures; related child welfare practice initiatives; social work best practices related to child welfare and current practice in the field, as well as current statewide policy. Knowledge of and experience working with ADCS and DDD families, children, youth, and caregivers. Ability to participate as a member of a team, including collaboration, cross-training, and mutual assistance. Ability to work independently with high initiative. Ability to travel to throughout the state as requested by supervisor or manager. Language Skills Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to listen and perceive need. Ability to work with people form diverse backgrounds non-judgmentally. Ability to effectively present and represent LSS-SW and the program's needs to religious and community groups as well as others in the social services community. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate information, draw conclusions, and take appropriate action based on this information. Ability and confidence to make decisions and to solicit guidance from Program Director. Physical Demands/Work Environment The physical demands and work environment characteristics here are representative of those that are needed by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods. The employee frequently is required to use hands to hold objects and operate office equipment. The employee is required to be able to listen and communicate effectively. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move +50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment varies with the activity level of the facility. The employee must be able to orientate and navigate well within the Program's geographic boundaries, be willing to drive to client's home, and conduct home visit tasks in client's home.
