Description:
The Thomas Jefferson Foundation that owns and operates Monticello, a world-renowned historic attraction, seeks a part-time Security Officer. This position will provide safety and security services for Foundation properties, personnel, and upwards of 450,000 guests per year. Responsibilities include security patrols, alarm monitoring, and emergency response. The successful candidate will be able to work independently while exercising sound judgment; communicate effectively orally and in writing and have a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Candidates must have a proven history of dependability and punctuality as it relates to employment, must possess a valid Virginia driver's license, must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds, climb stairs, bend and squat and work in restricted/small spaces. A general understanding of security processes and/or law enforcement is preferred.Candidates should be available approximately 25 hours per week with the flexibility to work first, second, and third shifts as needed. This is considered an essential role and will be required to report for duty and conduct foot and vehicle patrols during emergency and inclement weather situations.
