ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION Responsible for timely course completion of students, including completion of the required paperwork and all flight instructor endorsements from solo through FAA practical tests. Recommends syllabus and courseware improvements and assists the development of a new curriculum or courseware, as assigned. Attends administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings, as assigned. Provides introductory flights, instruction, and transition flights, as assigned. Ensures that all ground and flight instruction, including "owner aircraft," is billed through TFBO and declares any instructional activity that may conflict with the interests of DAS Flight School to Flight School Director who will provide written consent, if approved. WORK SCHEDULE Be available 8 hours per day for students, phone calls, and email inquiries at least five days a week to include 2 weekends a month or 1 weekend day every week, unless on approved leave. This job includes weekends as student schedules change. TASKS Ensures that students understand and practice all aspects of Dominion Aviation safety policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Performs flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with Dominion Aviation approved training course outline. Schedules each student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately notifies Flight School Director of any delays in training or unsatisfactory progress. Maintains accurate flight and ground training using brief descriptions (not lesson numbers), including student record, student logbook, computer records, and own logbook. Ensures that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by students, as set out in the approved course outline. Schedules pre-solo and pre-FAA practical test stage checks in conjunction with Flight School Director. Files incident and SMS reports for any observed safety violations or situations that could affect the safety of flight. Removes trash, monitors maintenance condition of school aircraft, and informs a responsible person of any questionable items. Works with the Maintenance department to return the aircraft to an up status. Assists with yearly TSA Audit and complete student folders in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS Must be FAA CFI, CFII and MEI is preferred Must have a current Second Class medical, First is preferred Must have a minimum of 500 Total Time in Fixed Wing Aircraft Must be authorized to work in the United States PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
