Shalimare Inc. in Fort Myers, FL is looking for compassionate and dependable caregivers to join our amazing team as a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) Behavior Assistant. We pay a competitive wage starting at $15/hour. You will provide personal assistance to adult individuals with autism or developmental disabilities in a group home setting. During your 8-hour shift, you will provide personal assistance in their daily living activities that encourage the individual's personal success. Enjoy meals together, go with them on fun outings, help them with their chores and personal hygiene needs, document progress and ensure their safety, privacy, and well-being. YOUR LIFE AS A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) / BEHAVIOR ASSISTANT This full-time human services direct care position has various shift schedules available based on the direct care needs of the persons served. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Behavior Assistant, you provide direct care to adults with developmental disabilities in a group home setting that encourages the individual's personal success. You provide this guidance and direct care during eight hour shifts in their group homes or at the activities they attend. Enjoying meals together, going with them on fun outings, and helping them with their chores are just a few of the ways you assist. Your work as a human services caregiver is also needed in many areas of daily living including hygiene, grooming, shopping, meal preparation, transportation, and housekeeping. You attend mandatory meetings and training as well as maintain certifications as appropriate. As needed, you provide first aid and wellness care. Using effective mentoring techniques, you provide life skills training in areas such as self-care, money management, and relationship-building. You participate with your clients in adult training and enrichment activities. Conscientiously, you keep accurate and up-to-date documentation as well as promptly report any concerns about health or safety. You are a true human services caregiver in every way.
