Middle and Upper School Art Teacher This is a full-time position within the Visual Arts department reporting to the Head of Upper School. Major Responsibilities: Teaching Middle school and Upper School Visual Art Act as an advisor and be committed to playing an active role in the school. Qualifications: The successful candidate must... have a Bachelor's Degree in Art, Art Education, or related field have 1 to 3 years of experience in teaching art in grades 6 - 8 have a passion for teaching students in middle years with empathy and pedagogically proven methods have experience teaching a broad variety of art materials and techniques be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and the school community collaborate well with colleagues within and across departments be committed to engaging in professional development The ideal candidate will... have a Masters Degree in Art, Art Education, or related field have prior experience in teaching art in grades 9 - 12 have curriculum development experience have experience teaching in independent schools have experience using educational technology and Adobe Suite Shipley and Its Commitment to Equity The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling approximately 800 students in grades Pre-K through 12.
