Green Cove Springs, FL Part-time: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. $15/Hour Job Description : This position is a trainee position in Life Skills Development Adult Day Training program. This entry level position will provide valuable applicable experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental differences. The trainee will assist program staff in designing and implementing person centered goals leading to increased independence and self-reliance, integrated employment, and social and recreational outcomes in the community. The trainee will assist the program staff in providing meaningful day activities and training in the areas of advocacy, social skills, employment skills, personal grooming and hygiene skills, mental/physical/emotional health, and home and community safety; leading to increased self-esteem, self-sufficiency, wages, and community engagement. Responsibilities and duties of this position include but not limited to the following: Promotes the mission of the agency "The Power of People and Possibilities for individuals living with disabilities." Follow all Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc.'s policies and procedures as set forth in the Board of Directors approved Personnel handbook. Follow the Challenge Enterprises Code of Conduct. Always be a professional representative of the agency and advocate for the consumer. Facilitate person-centered planning with the individual, family members, Support Coordinators, residential providers and the community following Florida Quality Assurance Standards. Follow all Life Skills approved procedures and handbook. Develop a personal educational/goal plan and participate in monthly reviews with the Supervisor. Nurture natural supports and facilitate social integration between the individuals and the community. Provide supervision and support for individuals in collaboration with community professionals. Provide training for the individual to enhance daily living skills, such as food preparation, housecleaning, personal hygiene, and social skills. Provide behavioral intervention for individuals to enhance performance with peers and supervisors. Maintain excellent communication with supervisors, peers, volunteers, and other agency personnel. Report all incidents following the approved Incident Reporting Procedures. Attend and participate in all mandatory and recommended training. Work cooperatively to provide smooth, quality person centered services to meet the goals as identified by the participant's support plan (including on the production/warehouse floor). Provide opportunities for choice and encourage individuals to exercise control over themselves and their environment. Continuously assessing the functional levels for our individuals, motivating individuals, and providing consistent reinforcement, assessments and feedback for all learning activities. Complete documentation for each individual using the approved data system. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required. Must pass local and Level 2 background check. Must sign a non-disclosure (confidentiality) agreement. Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days. LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing in English. Must be patient when communicating with individuals in the program. EDUCATION: High School Diploma required; college courses in Human Services, Social Work preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must be able to occasionally move about inside the adult day training program, offices and warehouse. Must be able to position self to maintain computers or tables to work with the individuals assigned.
