The Philanthropy Manager is a key member of the Marketing & Development Team, and a lead player in maintaining, and expanding relationships with donors through grants, planned gifts, and stewardship efforts for current and new donors. Working in collaboration with the CEO and reporting directly to the Director of Business Development, this experienced fundraising professional will have primary responsibility for managing targeted philanthropic relationships to build the organization's community impact and financial resources. This position is also expected to uphold and be committed to the mission and values established by Navian Hawaii. Primary Responsibilities: The Philanthropy Manager will spearhead grants, planned giving and major donor stewardship efforts and will be responsible for the oversight, planning, and implementation of a comprehensive grants and planned giving plan. This position will also establish fundraising goals related to grants and planned giving and represent the mission and values of the organization with passion and enthusiasm. Primary responsibilities include; but are not limited to: Strategy /Management Develops & implements an annual plan for grants, planned giving & donor stewardship activities. Provides strategic information & guidance to assist in developing goals, plans, and procedures related to grants, planned giving, and donor stewardship. Major Gifts Fundraising Collaborates with President/CEO and Director of Marketing & Development on major fundraising initiatives. Engages in effective strategies in the solicitation and cultivation of new and existing major donors and prospects. Develops and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper connections with our donors. Provides ongoing and timely updates on development and fundraising. Special Events Event Development and Execution Sponsorship Solicitation Coordination with Event Planner Planned Giving Develop and implement a robust planned giving marketing plan. Develops and educates agency staff on planned giving procedures. Manages & executes agency's Charitable Gift Annuity Program Tracks the progress of all estate and trust administration where the organization has a beneficial interest, to ensure that distributions are made on a timely basis and to oversee its general administrative progress. Grant Writing Works with Accounting/Finance Department as well as designated program staff to ensure an accurate, timely, efficient, and transparent process for the entire grant life cycle, including submission of grant reports. Manages and maintains the organization's "Grants Procedures as outlined in the policies and procedures manual. Other duties as assigned Departmental Tasks: Collaborates with Marketing & Development Team Educate staff on fundraising initiatives and procedures Devise effective strategies for moving existing annual donors to $1K+ major and planned gifts. Cultivate new prospects using a variety of development tactics and best practices. Will participate in and complete Navian Hawaii's Volunteer Training program and volunteer with patients and families. General: Clearly understands Navian Hawaii's mission, vision and values Practices effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance positive teamwork and to accomplish goals/tasks. Promotes excellence in donor relations with all encounters Enhances growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings and workshops Assists in the development of marketing & promotional plans Assist in gathering information for budget reports and annual impact reports Recommends and implements changes in procedure and practices to meet donor needs and overall strategic initiative of the organization. Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative purposes, as requested. Serves as a member of agency committees as needed. Stays actively involved in industry/peer groups within the community. Must be able to plan for and meet deadlines. Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the job. Demonstrate initiative and work as a team player. Convey professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization and the not-for-profit sector. Demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth and development. Other duties as assigned or required by Director of Marketing & Development Knowledge and Skills Requirements: Ability to influence, educate and negotiate in a professional, results driven manner Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential material Ability to set priorities, research, problem solve and make independent decisions with minimal supervision Must be able to multi-task and possess strong organizational, planning and follow-through skills. Strong account management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of individuals Well developed presentation skills Basic computer knowledge of MS applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bloomerang (Donor Database) Working knowledge of departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and operations Working knowledge of the principles of office management and of modern office procedures, systems and equipment such as typewriters, calculators, word processors, etc. Experience and Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in fundraising.
