Turner Specialty Services is hiring a Tankerman for a job in the Hahnville, LA area. This position will work under the direction of a Materials Supervisor, the Tankerman will be responsible for the physical receipt and distribution of production materials, serve as the person-in-charge of the dock, and assists with the safe transfer of chemicals to and from barges and/or ships. In this role, you will work on one dock. No travel up and down the river or out of state to other docks and locations. This role also qualifies for 401K matching, paid holidays after 90 days, and paid vacation after 1 year on the job. TWIC required Background Check / Drug Test required Schedule: 12 hour day shift schedule (occasional nights) Must have current USA Merchant Mariner Credential (MCC) with the following certifications: Tankerman-PIC (Barge), Ordinary Seaman, Wiper, Stewards Dept (FH), Limited to Dangerous Liquid (DL), and Liquefied Gas(LP) Cargo Duties and Responsibilities: Meets with the person-in-charge of the vessel for a pre-transfer conference to determine the facility's expectations, as well as, what is required and expected from the person-in-charge of the vessel to accomplish the transfer in a safe and uninterrupted manner Communicates with facility personnel via radio and/or telephone to advise the status of transfer and report any problems that may occur Wears all PPE that may be required to transfer the product Maintains detailed dock logs to ensure all events are recorded in chronological order Operates hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical equipment to connect / disconnect the dock arm / hose to the vessel Operates manual and/or motor operated valves to control flow of product being transferred Gauges barge as directed and procures sample of product from vessel as required Maintains open communication with person-in-charge of the vessel to ensure that the transfer is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner, as planned in the pre-transfer conference May assist with loading railcars and tank trucks Turner Industries is an equal employment opportunity employer.
