Summary: The Medical Assistant tracks the treatment status of all special medical populations and ensures the necessary provision of services and follow up as they relate to the population served. Shift : 40 hours/week TBD Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Track treatment status of all special medical populations (Suboxone, Vivitrol, Clozaril etc.). Monitor attendance for medication and therapy appointments as well as drug screen and lab work adherence for clinic clients. Handle prior authorization and prescription refill issues. Act as contact person for clients encountering issues or concerns with their treatment. Oversee intake process for new clients from point of referral forward. Participate as an assistant during injections as needed. Maintain all injectable and medical waste supplies for the office Collect urine toxicology specimens and interpret results for prescribing staff as needed. Assist with scanning of client documents into the EHR (Electronic Health Record) accurately and in a timely manner, prioritizing lab results (as needed). Assist with all functions of the Medical Records staff as needed/appropriate. Provide reception coverage as needed. Other duties as assigned Required Education/Experience: High School diploma required. Formal certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, required. Experience with medical records, confidentiality regulations, and medical office operations preferred. Experience working in a medical setting, monitoring vital signs, handling drug screens and managing injectable and medical waste with individuals with substance use issues preferred. Required Skills/Knowledge: Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to problem solve effectively and excellent organizational skills. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to act as a team player, and communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
