As a Career Development Specialist - Career Counselor, you are responsible for providing employment help and developing sector-based career pathways for our nonprofit members. You ensure that they have all the necessary support services, guidance, and resources to successfully complete the program and achieve their work goals. Working closely with members, you provide one-on-one support and mentorship as you interview, motivate, and guide them throughout their program engagement. You coordinate intake and orientation services to assist members with understanding and exploring their strengths, interests, and employment goals. In addition, you're responsible for developing and facilitating life skills and work readiness training curriculum. You help to plan and schedule workshops, and you document member progress and employment information. Making a difference every day - that's what you're doing, and it warms your heart to know it! QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - CAREER COUNSELOR Associate degree or equivalent with 2 years of relevant experience 2+ years of successful work experience in finance, financial education, financial planning, social work, coaching, teaching, or another related field Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and be sensitive to maintaining confidentiality Great organizational skills and attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office Experience working with public assistance recipients, formerly incarcerated individuals, and those affected by the challenges associated with poverty A bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field, such as psychology, education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, or occupational rehabilitation from an accredited institution is preferred.
