Position Summary A re you an experienced Project Surveyor looking for an opportunity to further your career? Do you have the ability to lead diverse crews, meet complex deadlines and have outstanding communication skills? If this you, join our quickly growing team for the opportunity to contribute to the West Lake Corridor project in Hammond, Indiana. Our growth means your growth. As a Project Surveyor for VS Engineering, you will be located in the NICTD West Lake Corridor project office in Hammond, Indiana. A portion of your time will be spent in the project office as well as in the field. You will be required to perform quality control and progress checks. This role will coordinate directly with the contractor and subcontractors onsite. You must have the ability to effectively discuss project timelines and concerns with clients and review agencies. A Typical Day May Include Leading survey crew performing topographic, construction staking, boundary surveys and control surveys using both conventional and GPS techniques Managing survey project and meeting project deadlines and budgets Proposal assistance and cost estimates for design surveys, topographic surveys etc. Performing office calculations and support field survey crews for construction staking Providing analysis and final map checking and record drawings research Conducts QA/QC of engineering parcels and route survey plats Establishes and maintains quality control procedures on survey operations Verifies the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites What We're Looking For High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, Associates' degree(preferred) or equivalent in land survey, design technology, engineering or a related field. A combination of education and experience is acceptable. Registered Professional Land Surveyor (preferred) 5+ years surveying experience Background in survey, right of way, site development, transportation, construction staking, construction experience, and/or other municipal operations Technical knowledge/ computer skills: AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation / Bentley OpenRoads or InRoads GPS LiDAR Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions Capable of solving complex problems using professional judgement, creativity, collaboration, and innovation Excellent time management skill s What You Offer Us Excellent communication skills Attention to detail/quality oriented Service-oriented demeanor Follows directions/Eagerness to learn Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather Must possess a valid driver's license as travel may be required to serve the project What We Offer You We provide you mentorship from highly skilled Project Managers & Technical Staff.
