Description:

This hands-on financial position is the overall analyst of revenue/expenses and financial activity for the corporations and is responsible for handling the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, reconciling, and posting, as well as accounts payable. Also responsible for variance reporting, budgeting and new business development forecasting. Reports to the Director and shareholders. Works collaboratively with the practice manager and revenue cycle, billing and reimbursement staff to monitor financial performance. Requires routine financial reporting, posting, monitoring and reconciling both the accounting and practice management systems. Also works closely with our outside accounting firm for tax planning. RESPONSIBILITIES--Financial Reporting/AP/Accounting: Responsible for accounting, AP and purchasing functions, including practice financial reporting and statements. Must analyze financial results, trends and performance metrics to support business decisions, work with billing supervisor on revenue cycle management and also act as liaison with outside accounting firm. Perform monthly, quarterly and year-end closing, reconciliation procedures and reporting. Create and analyze cash disbursement, general ledger, working trial balance, balance sheet and income statement reports for multiple companies in two S-corporations. Prepare and review journal entries in a timely manner to ensure accurate coding of transactions and account reconciliations for proper accounting and allocation of revenue and expenses. Work with outside accounting firm regarding monthly reports, quarterly taxes and other corporate tax/accounting related matters. Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Prepare monthly financial and operational reports for management. Interpret and authenticate financial transactions and events for physicians and management to make business decisions. Support routine tax and accounting audits by accountants or outside agencies. Maintain processes and perform calculations to support the monthly and year-end close process for both billing and AP departments and generate monthly financial statements. Full reconciliation on a daily and monthly basis. Participate and support for practice year-end close process for both corporations. Provide expertise and education related to payables, budgeting, revenue cycle, and reimbursement. Assist with cost-analysis and recommend budget adjustments and other cost improvement measures. Monitor revenue/expense ratios and benchmarks and prepare reports, forecasts and proformas to assess financial performance. Evaluate, update, and maintain processes in support of regulatory and third-party changes, audits, cost accounting and other regulatory requirements. Ensure internal audit process in place for monitoring supply inventory and billing procedures. Perform detailed variance analysis each month. Identify trending strengths or concerns. Stay abreast of issues impacting the healthcare industry, especially those that have a financial impact to the practice. Make recommendations for financial and performance improvement. Partner with management and department leaders to prepare and maintain budgeting models for cost-effective acquisitions related to capital or staff resources. Monitor and proactively manage overhead expenses. Provide market research on pay rates, benefits, equipment and supply costs, etc. Shop, evaluate and negotiate recurring expenses as well as capital expenditures. Work with Human Resources Manager and other team leaders on pay and benefit projects, including cost analysis. Oversee and support all accounts payable and purchasing functions. QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting and minimum of 2 years financial analysis or accounting experience required. Bookkeeping and/or reimbursement knowledge in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred. Work experience and understanding of revenue cycle, reimbursement and medical billing operations experience in orthopedics or other practice setting also preferred. Skill in booking, analyzing and interpreting financial data. Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook and solid experience with spreadsheet applications and database management. Computer aptitude to learn various systems. Experience with Peachtree/Sage accounting software system and practice management billing software preferred. Excellent work ethic and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task with excellent organizational skills. BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is strongly preferred.
