Position Details Provide management of emergency scenes and basic skills for Perham Area EMS and patient care services to the cities of Perham, Dent, Richville, neighboring communities and surrounding rural areas. Oversee initial training of advanced and basic personnel within 1 year of joining Perham Area EMS. Oversee, organize and conduct monthly in-service classes to maintain current certification levels. Conduct departmental quality reviews and evaluations to help identify weaknesses, strengths and identify performance improvement projects. Plans, organizes and develops lesson plans for EMS training programs in conjunction with EMS department instructors. Work with hospital safety committees to implement safe work procedures when appropriate, investigate injury reports, track injury data, participate in safety inspections as needed and attend monthly safety meetings as scheduled. Participate in hospital, city, county and state emergency planning. Function within defined policy and procedure of Perham Area EMS and will follow written and verbal physician orders on emergency calls and ambulance transfers. What Y ou Offer The incumbent must maintain current certification as Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic, American Heart Association certification as Advanced Cardiac Life Support provides, and a valid Driver's License. Must be able to communicate effectively with many diverse groups of people. Must have an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid regulations and billing practices. Must have basic knowledge of accounting, budget preparation, computer keyboarding, computer operations and network management. Routinely attend opportunities for continuing education to maintain a high level of proficiency. Must have a thorough understanding of ambulance equipment and Primary service areas. Must be able to pass Background Study through the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
