The Mechanical Engineer will join a growing Engineering Group that is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the product life cycle for new and existing products. This position reports to the Division Lead Engineer. Basic Functions of Position Work with Production, Sales, Marketing, and Project Management groups to ensure clear understanding of relevant timelines, product capabilities and limitations, and performance requirements. Update product capabilities and design based on input/feedback from Sales, Marketing, Production, and Field Support teams as well as customer feedback and other market indicators. Develop and design new products with careful consideration of performance requirements, design for manufacture, and cost/benefit analysis. Analyze existing products for opportunities to improve performance, facilitate manufacturing and/or assembly, or part standardization across products. Communicate with Production Managers, Project Managers, and other engineers to establish timelines for new product development, fabrication, assembly, and testing. Develop and maintain product related documentation including Bill of Materials, associated drawings and Operator Manuals. Identify vendors and communicate design requirements to establish the supply chain for new product components.. Assist with new product assembly and testing. Utilize CAD software (Autodesk and Inventor) Turn customer approval drawings into assembly drawings and part prints for manufacturing Utilize troubleshooting skills to assist in high level technical support for installation team and customer service Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Professional experience using 3D modeling tools to design new parts and assemblies as well as associated documentation, including fabrication and assembly drawings. Experience in Inventor preferred. Working knowledge of common material properties, fabrication processes and associated capabilities of sheet metal and machined parts. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, write, listen and talk about complex technical and relational and interpersonal concepts. Experience with Machine Design Less than 10% travel to customer locations Previous experience with CRM/ERP systems Position is located in Grand Rapids, MI.
