PathPoint is seeking a Customized Employment Specialist in Santa Barbara, CA 93101 . This is a unique and rewarding sales-like position with a profitable bonus incentive that helps people with disabilities or disadvantages secure meaningful employment. As a Customized Job Developer, you will plan, provide employment counseling, and coordinate a Person-Centered Plan for individuals. In this position, you will procure employment for individuals with higher support needs that can benefit from customized employment as referred from the Regional Center and Department of Rehabilitation.This is a limited, grant funded position through the Department of Developmental Services and will conclude by 6/30/2024 with potential to lead to a permanent role. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Approximately 30% of this position is spent in the community where the work environment varies based on job site. What You'll Do: Advocate for the hiring of individuals with disabilities. Generate leads appropriate to people of varying interests and strengths. Develop and monitor the implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs), Person Centered Plans (PCPs), or other service plans as necessary; partner with PathPoint's Assistive Technology Services team to develop custom assistive technology solutions when needed by individuals to be successful in employment. Assist individuals with pre-employment vocational counseling and job preparation activities, including appropriate workplace interaction, grooming and hygiene, mobility training, resume preparation, cover letters, and job applications; contact local employers, arrange interviews, and accompany the individual to interviews when requested. Maintain positive relationships with funding agencies and business leaders throughout the life of the employment collaboration; act as a resource to employers concerning the ADA, tax credits, and other questions they may have regarding the hiring of persons with disabilities. What We're Looking For: Minimum of two years of experience assisting individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining employment. Experience working with people who may have atypical coping strategies, limited communication skills, or who have need for physical accommodations in their working environment, preferred. Exceptional negotiation skills; strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional, creative, analytical and goal-oriented with a remarkable talent for problem-solving. Must pass pre-employment fingerprint background check, health screen and TB test. Must have valid California Driver's License, satisfactory DMV record, criminal record clearance through the DOJ, and the use of own automobile for work purposes. Culturally sensitive and aware of differences in employees based on cultural backgrounds; aware of one's own culture and how someone's background may lead to biases; has the skills and resources needed to work with employees from all different cultures and the ability to avoid making biased assumptions based on someone's culture. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with base pay starting at $19.00 per hour. The pay range is $19.00-$19.50 an hour. In addition to base pay, Employment Specialists earn bonuses. Based on 2022 earnings, the average annualized bonus earnings increased the hourly equivalent pay by $8.00 to $10.00. There are no caps on earning bonuses, and the amount actually earned in bonuses will depend on performance. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors, and the maximum base pay represents the wage potential based on attaining the highest level of position experience, talent, and responsibilities.
