Lucerne Valley Marina is seeking a Boat/ Marine Mechanic II Marine Technician Summary The Marine/Service Technician is responsible for the repair of boats and trailers. Some vehicle maintenance may be needed. We work on Mercs, Volvo s and some OMC s inboards, stern drives & outboards. Position Relationships: Reports to Service Writer Responsibilities of Marine/Service Technician Includes Examine boat and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction with the service advisor or customer. Perform diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines and drives and some generators. Perform mechanical repair work such as: Remove engine, transom or outdrive , reseals, water pumps, oil changes, tune ups-overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems - install electronics such as fish finders.- Dewinterize & Winterize boats, launch and load boats from 18 to 40 . Shrink Wrap boats-Responsible for rental fleet of houseboats, ski boats, patio boats, and fishing boats. Ensure all warranty work is completed according to manufacture s guidelines Safely operate Corporate and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing operations Other duties as assigned Key Result Areas for Marine/Service Technician : Timely and accurate completion of work Integrity in all aspects of work. Good work ethic. Ability to maintain a clean shop & work area. Personable and respectful attitude with customers and fellow workers. Ability to work under the direct supervision of the Service Writer. Personal tools are important, we have a specialty tools. Working knowledge of Merc/Volvo I/O's & Outboards. Maintain minimum number of comebacks. Wage & Benefits: 1. Starting Wage : $18.50 / hour, after 30 days probation and evaluation of work a raise will be discussed. 5 days per week. Weekends are a must during the summer season. May be able to take off part of a Sunday from time to time depending on work load. Required to maintain at least a 60% retail work load. Mechanics are responsible for any comebacks on their own time. 2. Housing: 3 Bedroom Single wide trailer with nice fenced in yard with sprinklers, all utilities including garbage. $200 deposit and monthly housing inspections are done to insure cleanliness and that the unit does not have any damage. No charge for housing but employee is responsible for internet and Direct TV charges. 3. 20% discount at marine, store and grill. Use of small boats including patios (except on weekends or holiday) 4. Utility vehicle to be used from housing to shop to docks. Small truck available if needed to go off site for a job.
