General Call for Youth Volunteers Become a history maker! Help others by sparking discovery through Ohio History! Ohio History Connection has all sorts of opportunities for youth and their families to volunteer. Whether you're a history buff or just appreciate opportunities to learn and serve others, we're always looking for folks to help. We can accommodate a variety of time commitments from an occasional event to several times a month. We can also help you meet community services requirements for school and work. This is a listing of some of our most popular volunteer opportunities. We're happy to connect you to other departments within Ohio History Connection and direct your to other historic sites around Ohio. Just complete the application and tell us a bit about yourself and interests. All volunteers must complete the application, pass a criminal background check (required for volunteering in organizations that service children), and track their volunteer hours. Public Program/Special Events Volunteer A great way to get to know the Ohio History Connection, this position supports the large public programs organized by the Visitor Experience Department. Ohio History Center Floor Programs Volunteer Help make the weekends at the Ohio History Center great by facilitating our museum carts or by being an interpreter in the Lustron Home. Volunteers must have great people skills and experience interacting with all ages and learning styles. A great position for college students looking for education and museum experience. Ohio Village Interpreter Volunteer/ T-shirt Volunteer Every summer Ohio Village comes alive with costumed interpreters who help our visitors engage with and connect to history. Interpreters use 3rd person interpretation to share history meaning that they are "themselves," not characters from the past. Volunteers should have a love if history, strong people skills to talk with (not at!) visitors of all ages to help them make the most of their visit. Education Program Volunteer The Ohio History Connection hosts school groups year round for our immersive educational programs. These dynamic programs require a team of quick thinking and friendly educators. This position is great for volunteers who have classroom experience, or are studying education. Volunteers will facilitate education programs in the History Center and Ohio Village on a variety of topics. Historic Sites Clean-up Volunteer Many times throughout the year, we need the assistance of kind members of the public to clear debris and pick up trash from our many historic sites across the state. This not only keeps our site system beautiful for all to enjoy, but it helps our environment by keeping trash from clogging waterways and natural habitats. We're able to accommodate individuals and groups of all sizes throughout the year, weather permitting. Are you looking for career or internship opportunities?
