The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC-MN) is looking for a full-time Veterinary Technician to add to our team. This is a new scheduling method to AERC that is commonly and successfully utilized in human healthcare hospitals. The rotating schedule will include the following: Will be scheduled and trained to work in ER, ICU, and Lab capacities Will be scheduled to work at both Oakdale and St. Paul hospitals "Weekends" on Evenings are defined as working Sat/Sun "Weekends" on Overnights are defined as working Fri/Sat due to the late evening start time The following will be the layout of the rotation. Specific days and roles will vary. Evening shifts will be 2 pm-12 am. Will be scheduled on this shift for eight consecutive weeks, and will be fixed schedule in four-week blocks Overnight shifts will be 10 pm-8 am. Will be scheduled on this shift for eight consecutive weeks, and will be fixed schedule in four-week blocks Role Title: Veterinary Technician: ER/ICU Primary Department: Emergency Critical Care Shift: Evening and Overnight Compensation: Hourly, dependent on skills, education, credentials, and other factors. Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance provided at up to 80% covered by AERC. Short-Term, Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and EAP are provided at no additional cost to you. PTO accrual based on tenure. Uniform, Pet, and CE stipends are available, and more. Shift Differential: Eligible - $4/hr on top of base hourly wage while working 2pm-12am $6/hr on top of base hourly wage while working 10pm-8am Relocation Assistance: Eligible, up to $2,000. Exact assistance is determined based on multiple factors, to be discussed at the time of interview(s). The primary function of the Veterinary Technician is to provide exceptional care of both patients and clients by serving as an extension of the veterinarian. Additionally, the Veterinary Technician is expected to promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities. Your Skills & Experiences. Who are we looking for? Client Service You provide outstanding client communication, documentation, education, and care to all clients. You possess the knowledge to triage phone calls, review medical plans, perform financial transactions, and discharge patients leaving the hospital in addition to your typical technical skills and abilities. Patient Care Skills can be taught. We value training and professional development. You will be provided with a minimum of 16 training shifts before you're set free to save lives. These training shifts will be both on the floor and classroom-based, working closely with individuals from our professional development training team. When you succeed, we all succeed. You will be comfortable with the basic tasks such as IVC placement, venipuncture, bloodwork (CBC/Chem/UA), and performance of x-rays and sedated procedures. If you have advanced skills such as central line placement, urinary catheterization, critical nursing, pharmacology, physiology, and advanced imaging, you will bring a wealth of knowledge to our motivated and education-hungry team.
