Upper School Theology Teacher and Religion Department Chairperson Beginning August 24, 2023 Convent of the Sacred Heart Reports to: Upper School Division Head FLSA: Exempt, full-time Salary Range: $62,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience Summary: Convent of the Sacred Heart is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Upper School Theology Teacher. Responsibilities: Courses include, but not limited to, World Religions, Scripture, and Ethics. Campus ministry duties, including retreats and liturgies, in collaboration with Campus Ministry Team and Chaplain. Support department members in developing curriculum, lesson planning and teaching practices. Evaluate how department members are meeting their professional growth goals and help them find PD experiences that will help them meet their goals. Collaborate with members of the Theology department to share best practices, plan active lessons, and create instructional aids Attend department and faculty meetings. Fulfill advisory duties. Communicate with families through email, phone, and conferences. Support students and division by covering for emergency classroom coverage, other assignments as needed. Requirements: The US Theology teacher is actively involved with the Mission and Goals of Sacred Heart education with students and adults alike. Candidates must be Roman Catholic MA degree in Religious Studies or Theology preferred Previous teaching experience preferred Knowledge of Catholic Church teachings and USCCB guidelines Commit to addressing social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-racist, anti-bias education in the curriculum through lessons, actions, and discussions Proficiency and adaptability with instructional technology Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school.
