Toppan Interamerica Inc. is a specialty printer of decorative papers for the furniture and flooring industries. Toppan prints natural wood, stone reproductions, and trendy abstracts on rotogravure printing presses. Toppan's facility located in Morgantown PA opened in 1988. The candidate must have excellent verbal and visual presentation skills, the ability to develop, substantiate, and explain design direction to the team and clients, and have a passion for bringing ideas to life. The Designer is involved in all aspects of our projects, from exploration and conception of design development through to the final production of all printed and digital deliverables. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capabilities for collaborating in teams, interacting with clients, and managing multiple timelines and deliverables. Key Responsibilities: Project Management Organize the process flow of critical projects within the design department as it relates to Light Basis Weight Paper product for the Recreational Vehicle, Manufactured Housing and Wall Panel industries. Track customer design launch timetables with specific details and deliverables. Manage design development and colorwork for multiple projects and timelines. Collaborate with domestic and Tokyo design teams in support of sales opportunities and manage more than one design brief at a time by allocating the relevant amount of time. Provide sales managers with advice on technical design issues about the various in-house production capabilities. Provide support to sales as it related to color observations, design presentations and paper sampling arrangements. Build successful client relationships utilizing own expertise of market knowledge and presentation skills. Attend Sales and design meetings as required to keep in tune with customers' activities. Archive and maintain files for product development and all correspondence with clients. Collaborate with the Production and Technical teams during the development process to ensure standards are met. Product Development Collaborate with Design & Marketing Manager and other members of the Design team to develop new design collections specifically woodgrains, marble, stone & textile looks. Present new design and color concepts based on trend analysis and market needs. Work with design vendors and source original manuscripts for design development. Develop a range of colors for each design using color programs Photoshop and AVA. Provide color and design guidance to Ink Technicians in the Color Lab to create samples for promotion and production. Create impactful and aesthetically pleasing presentations by combining Toppan designs with supporting trend analysis. Utilize our design library to meet market needs for creating new colorations with existing designs. Trend Analysis Identify current and upcoming design trends to create new designs for decorative paper and film products to service the RV, MH & Wall Panel markets. Explore inspiration from industry tradeshows both domestically and internationally. Remain current in the latest and upcoming trends by researching resources such as magazines, websites, WGSN, social media and visiting local design centers. Present supporting evidence for design direction to the team and clients. Create trend presentations after tradeshow and research trips. Company Brand Support and Marketing Use a variety of typography, composition, color and visual identity to create marketing tools while remaining consistent with Toppan brand guidelines. Collaborate with the Graphics team to create marketing materials for events including event advertisements and post event visuals. Create engaging text, image and video content for Toppan's social media platforms with regular postings as it pertains to Design while remaining consistent with the Toppan brand guidelines. Develop online engagement tactic in cooperation with Sales to support the marketing strategy and goals. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree in visual arts, Industrial Design, Textile Design or related field. Minimum 3 years related experience. Professional knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator Knowledge of AVA CAD Program is a plus. Microsoft Office 365 Applicable knowledge of CMYK separations, 4 color process as it applies to printing. A refined sense of composition and typography Experience working under deadlines. Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
