We have embarked on a significant capital investment to modernize and grow our coated recycled paperboard (CRB) manufacturing portfolio. The investment includes building a state-of-the-art paper machine on a greenfield site in Waco, Texas. This investment will upgrade the company’s overall recycled paperboard capacity and take advantage of a rapidly-growing market for recycled and recyclable packaging. This investment will position Graphic Packaging International, LLC as the most technologically advanced producer in its industry, benefitting their customers, their shareholders and the environment when this highly productive paperboard machine ramps up. We are seeking a Superintendent, Power and Recovery I to join the Waco, Texas (Greenfield Startup) team. The Power Sand Recovery Superintendent position is a leadership role and is responsible for the safe and stable operation of the Waco Mill Power operation. Responsibilities include safety, environmental compliance, employee engagement, hourly team development, process productivity, efficiency and reliability, department financial performance to include cost management and annual budgeting, and capital planning. Responsibilities will also include the direction of technical resources and process experts who support the business unit. JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following. Accountable for overall shift performance in accordance to established key performance indicator (KPI’s) to include safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality and efficiency. Takes necessary action to ensure goals are achieved in a team environment by leading or promoting problem solving and development of countermeasures that will prevent future reoccurrence. Demonstrate unyielding use of Management Operating Systems (MOS) including Six-Sigma, LEAN, KT, etc. Demonstrate situational leadership in the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the production of the Power department. Establish and provide the operational expertise component of leading and managing our cultural change process, the strategic and forward-thinking capabilities in both the operational and human capital areas of the operation. Determine training needs and administer appropriate training program for hourly employees in the areas of responsibility. Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resources and Mill Manager Establishing, sustaining, and improving work systems essential to ensuring Power Plant reliability and sustainability Monitoring overall Power health Working with Manufacturing Optimization organization and process engineering to implement sustainable cost reduction projects Working with Reliability organization and process control implement sustainable reliability improvement projects Support Major outage planning and execution activities BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE: Three to Five years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a power operation. Three to Five years of relevant power maintenance or operations management experience Area Process Manager experience (Preferably in both maintenance and production) Thorough knowledge of Power concepts and application EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE: BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience SKILLS: Skills include but not limited to the following. Effective written and verbal communications skills Effective strategic planning, problem solving, interpersonal, and analytical skills Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook SAP Business Software Knowledge preferred Provide strong leadership and teamwork to ensure safe and efficient operations Exhibit proven ability to self-manage in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Lean Implementation experience and knowledge of six sigma principles required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8 -hours. Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs. Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
