Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Mid-Senior Level Structural Engineer to manage people, projects, and client relationships for the design and support of hydroelectric and fish passage projects, focused primarily around our Portland, Oregon and Redmond, Washington offices. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment including working from the office and remotely. Salary: $90,000-$150,000/year (based on experience) Who You Are A licensed Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science (MS a plus) in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 5 years' experience in structural engineering. Experience with hydroelectric design projects and fisheries related or water resource projects is a plus. Specialty experience within the structural engineering discipline, such as seismic design or finite element modeling, is also a plus. Knowledgeable: Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to the structural engineering discipline is required. Experience with analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in and around water, coordinating with hydrology/hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers, and structural modeling software (MathCAD, RISA-3D, SAP2000, AutoCAD). The candidate should have experience working in the field with clients and contractors during planning and construction of projects. The candidate will also possess excellent problem-solving skills, oral and written communication skills to manage projects and clients. Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes is a plus. Project Manager: The candidate will have experience managing project teams that include junior and senior-level staff, drafters, and project coordinators. The candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Relationship-Focused: Passion for mentoring junior-level staff. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction. Ability to establish long-lasting relationships with clients to assist them in solving complex engineering work, demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering throughout the longevity of the project. Additional Requirements Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license About the Position This position provides an opportunity to be a part of a team working on the design and management of hydroelectric and fisheries related facilities, incorporating the skills of civil, structural, and hydraulic engineering projects. Client relationship management and business development are also integral with this position.
