SBM is currently seeking Structural/Building Design Technologist Co-op in our London office for a 4 or 8-month term. The successful candidate will assist both the structural engineering & building design departments with the design and drafting of residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The candidate will be required to work with the structural engineers & building design team in producing of designs/drawings for permit and construction. The candidate will be expected to work both independently and within the project group to facilitate the design requirements to reach project completion. The candidate will also be encouraged to take on special project tasks to help promote efficiencies of current design procedures and will have the opportunity to attend occasional site visits. SBM has offices in London and Kitchener, providing engineering services to a variety of private and public sector clients across Southwestern Ontario. The firm employs over 120 engineers, engineering trainees, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel. Duties and Responsibilities: Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with building design and structural engineering, Accept technical guidance from designers, technologists, and senior staff, Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion, Coordinate building design & structural aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawings, Complete drawings and documents in conformance with building code and office standards, Other tasks as assigned.
