Part-Time Teaching Assistant Responsibilities LaunchCode Teaching Assistants guide a group of students as their principal education and support point of contact throughout LaunchCode programs, while simultaneously refining their own professional development goals. The team leadership experience will provide the opportunity to grow your own leadership, people management, and group facilitation skills. Teaching Assistants complete 12 hours of paid training in teaching and facilitation fundamentals, project and people management, diversity and inclusion, and community building. Teaching Assistants will then serve in LaunchCode's Women+ program (typically 6 paid hours per week for 24 weeks), while facilitating class activities, hosting learner office hours, and grading learner submissions. Teaching Assistant opportunities are available in the following tracks: SQL This role reports to the LaunchCode Candidate Engagement Manager. Qualifications: The following skills: SQL Passion for others learning technical skills for entry-level tech careers Strong communication skills - comfortable leading small groups and/or providing one on one teaching assistance Perception/patience (knowing when a student needs help and guiding them in how to problem solve to find answers) Growth mindset The job is fast-paced and multi-faceted. You're perfect for this role if you are: A great, proactive leader Detail-oriented Experienced in teaching, mentoring, or tutoring Able to apply knowledge of concepts/technologies taught in our curriculum to practice through your full-time job or project work Bonus points if you're a LaunchCode Women+ (formerly CoderGirl) graduate, CodeCamp graduate, LC101 graduate, CS student or graduate, professional programmer, or programming enthusiast engaged in the local tech scene Position Type Part-Time - Contract This is an independent contractor, 6 hours/week, paid position for LaunchCode's Women+ Saint Louis cohort (formerly CoderGirl). The class will run for up to 24 weeks , beginning on Tuesday, May 8, 2023, with an estimated end date on October 24, 2023 . The class will meet weekly at our location at 4811 Delmar Blvd on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 8:30 pm CT. Teaching Assistants will be paid $15.00/hr and work 6 hours a week.
