Job Posting Sessional Instructional Assistant - LIN205H5S English Grammar II This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. Course number and title : LIN205H5S English Grammar II Course description : This course examines complex methods of sentence construction that will enable a critical analysis of English sentence structure, word and sentence meanings, and language function in communicative contexts. This course is particularly suitable for students who wish to improve their academic writing skills or who wish to teach English. Estimated course enrolment : 400 Estimated size of appointment : 145 hrs. Class schedule : Wednesdays 4pm-5pm and 5pm-6pm (Please see ttb. utoronto. ca ) [NOTE: The mode of instruction for this course is expected to be in-person. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable. ] Sessional dates of appointment : January 9, 2024 to April 30, 2024 Salary : $52.26/hour Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications : Graduate degree in Linguistics or pursuing a graduate degree in Linguistics is required. Demonstrated ability in the specific area of the course (English syntax from a theoretical linguistic perspective) is required. Preferred qualifications : Preference will be given to applicants with ongoing linguistic research related to the subject area. Experience in this course, or a similar course in Linguistics, is an asset. Description of duties : Grading of assignments, tests, and the final exam, and teaching (in-person) of weekly tutorials. Other responsibilities are as assigned by the instructor and may include: course orientation, weekly preparation, weekly meetings with the instructor, some administrative duties, and invigilation of the final exam.
