Its mandate is to help newcomers and refugees settle, adjust, and integrate into society. Funded by the three levels of government, Wood Green Newcomer Programs & Services operates English language training programs, settlement services, employment support programs, mentorship, networking activities, and social and recreational activities. The Settlement Counsellor is responsible for supporting newcomers and their families in their integration process by providing timely and accurate information and orientation, facilitating attachments to vital key services and resources internally and externally with the goal of helping newcomers, including refugees make informed decisions and engage in social, economic, and civic life in Canada. What You Will Do One-on-one case management support with newcomer individuals and/or families, guiding them through their settlement process into Canadian society. Engage clients in a holistic intake and backssment process to identify and prioritize settlement needs individually and for the family and develop settlement plans based on identified needs. Following a Newcomer Wellbeing Model (NWB), identify, link, and coordinate collaborative pathways with multiple internal and external resources responsive to client needs and in a culturally sensitive manner. Actively leverage internal programs and services and work with external service providers and government agencies to maximize newcomers’ access to resources and enhance service capacity.
