Date Posted: 11/14/2023 Req ID: 34947 Faculty/Division: Faculty of Arts & Science Department: Human Biology Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: Course description: Since research involving human subjects lays the foundation for innovation in modern health care, this course examines health care ethics along a continuum from bench to bedside. Ethical issues are discussed in the context of specific cases involving human research, as well as contemporary clinical practice. Estimated course enrolment: 40 students Hours of Work : 60 (to be confirmed) Class schedule : Lectures on Mondays 9:00 am - 11:00 am (in-person) Sessional dates of appointment : January 1, 2024 - April 30, 2024 Salary : $51.26 per hour plus of vacation pay Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications : Candidates should have a completed M. Sc. degree in a related field and basic knowledge of bioethics and ethical theory. Previous Teaching Assistant experience in a bioethics course preferred. Description of duties : Assist in preparation of course syllabus and course marking scheme; Assist in teaching weekly lectures and tutorials; Assist in marking assignments and exams; Providing office hours for academic counselling of students; Assist in setting and marking assignments/exams Assist in course administration in accordance with University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors.
