Gulfshore Business and The Naples Press seek an energetic and ambitious senior writer/editor. The ideal candidate should understand the Naples/Collier County business landscape and the importance of local community news with the ability to write clean copy on deadline that’s accurate, thorough, concise and thought provoking. This is a hybrid position between the two publications. Responsibilities: -Write daily, weekly and monthly stories across brands-Pursue exclusive content on a variety of topics from health care to education to government-Develop long-form enterprise and investigative pieces -Cultivate and maintain a network of sources and relationships with key players in our communities -Dig underneath the words of city/county government agendas to find what’s really coming up at government meetings -Attend city/county government meetings The ideal candidate will have: -At least five years of experience working in daily or weekly newsroom environments-Talent for identifying fresh angles on the news of the day, consistently pitching fresh, creative approaches that gives the “daily” story more perspective -Strong copy-editing skills and the ability to produce content that is fair, accurate and thorough -A demonstrated ability to dig deeper into important stories with a thirst for digging through documents and building sources -Willingness to tackle any assignment from features to enterprise to government to business-Understands both the limitations of immediacy and advantages of long-range issues for weekly and monthly publications-Ability to ferret out a good story, whether it takes dense, investigative work or a great sense of humor for lighter subjects-Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle daily, short-term enterprise and long-term enterprise stories -Ability to work independently and with other members of the team and isn’t afraid to ask fellow writers for their expertise Benefits: Full-time new hires: Eligible to participate in all Company benefit plans, including: Health, Dental, Vision Insurance, and HSA 1 st of the month after 30 days employment Subject to plan terms Eligibility for company-paid benefits such as life insurance & EAP and employee-paid benefits such as short-term disability PTO – Earned on Accrual Basis Company-Paid Holidays 401(k) Southwest Florida is often praised as being one of the healthiest and happiest places in the world with miles of white-sand beaches and a dynamic community.
