The Senior Planner is responsible to provide professional planning advice to Council, members of the Public, property owners, property developers and staff with respect to land use planning matters within the Municipality of Port Hope (“Municipality”) in accordance with all applicable Municipal, Provincial and Federal Acts, Regulations, Policies and Standards. This is a Non-union position. Must hold the designation of Registered Provincial Planner (RPP) and be a member of, or eligible for membership in the Ontario Professional Planner Institute (OPPI) and Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) or equivalent. Membership in the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) would be an asset. Five (5) to Seven (7) or more years progressive planning experience is required, preferably with supervisory experience; Municipal experience would be an asset. Valid and satisfactory ‘G’ license and Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check. Responsibilities Assist in the review, research, policy planning and update of the Municipal Official plan and Zoning by-law for the Municipality; monitor and advise Management on compliance with changing Provincial Policies and legislation (e. g. Growth Plan, Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan, Green Energy Act, County official plan and others). Manage planning and development applications, including Official Plan amendments,.
