Beginning in 2002 with an ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant from the National Science Foundation and transitioning to Provost's Office funding in 2007, the nationally recognized program serves all U-M faculty on campus in four distinct areas: Recruitment - development and use of equitable recruiting practices Workplace Climate - focused on the improvement of unit climate Retention - preemptive strategies to prevent the loss of valued faculty Leadership Development - skill and career development for faculty leaders at all levels Our 15+ person team supports these four areas through research and evaluation, programming, and administration efforts. Visit our website to learn more about our work and the team.Reporting formally to the Director of Programming and Administration, in this position, you will provide high-level senior strategic project management building upon the history of partnering with units across campus and building a framework to expand existing programs. You will facilitate program discussions with the ADVANCE Director, Deans and DEI Leads across campus in units that ADVANCE may not currently be working with or has not worked with recently and/or are historically less well-served by ADVANCE. Enhancing coordination of efforts, promoting greater engagement across campus, and building relationships with new partners will allow ADVANCE to serve a broader range of units and foster more direct connections to DEI-focused entities within units. The ADVANCE Program embraces a hybrid work model with a standard 3 days on campus and 2 remote days for full-time staff appointments. Employees are welcome to work additional days in the office. Additionally, we offer flexible scheduling with core work hours between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. This position is a 5-year term-limited position with the option to extend with satisfactory performance and available funding. Responsibilities* Strategic partnerships and collaboration project management (45%) Identify potential new partners and assess collaboration opportunities across campus Work closely with the Director and Associate Directors to strategize and capitalize on opportunities across campus Be an ambassador for ADVANCE across campus by promoting programs and services at various meetings and events (across campus unit DEI committee meetings, faculty meetings, new faculty orientations, SACUA, etc.) Build and maintain relationships with new and existing partners Build a comprehensive multi-year project plan for campus expansion for identified programming and evaluation across the ADVANCE portfolio to be shared with campus leadership Internal Stakeholder engagement (40%) Assess capacity of programs, research and evaluation, and make recommendations for what is possible and options for scaling up within current staffing models across the full portfolio of offerings Build capacity and scalability models with colleagues/subject matter experts Facilitate cross functional intraunit conversations about capacity and process improvement Additional project management tasks (15%) Lead internal innovation projects and new technology launches Maintain records of campus partnership conversations in a shared office tool Collaborate on development of partnership documentation, which may include MOUs Maintain shared materials/resources and stakeholder access Required Qualifications* Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, e.g., Bachelor's Degree plus two years relevant work experience 5+ years experience working on a team, providing leadership and support to complex cross-campus projects or cross-functional committees, ideally in a higher education environment working with faculty Excellent writing ability and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by application materials Proficiency in office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite, etc. Experience and interest in the area of equity in the workplace Experience with learning management, survey tools, reference management, workflow management, marketing tools and technology (for example Monday.com, Qualtrics or similar programs/platforms) Experience translating detailed information (e.g., statistical findings) into stories for a non-technical audience Application Deadline Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days.
