SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Senior Director of Community Outreach and Engagement leads the planning and execution of engagement and outreach actions and activities with community organizations, allies, and partner organizations. This role will report directly to the Chief Learning Officer while working closely with the Chief People Officer and the Museum President to set the direction of, implement, and continually assess a new strategy for ensuring equitable access to the high-quality science learning experience the Museum offers. The Senior Director of Community Outreach and Engagement will lead the Museum's community use strategy, which provides community partners with access to the Museum's rich and varied resources to achieve their aims connected to STEM learning and action. They will also be responsible for overseeing the Museum's local school programming and in-community programing, and work with a museum-wide team to lead the Museum's new MOS en Espanol initiative. A key pathway for achieving these aims will be to cultivate and establish partnerships with schools, NGOs, community organizations, allies, local volunteer clubs and organizations, who can work with the Museum toward our shared aim of equitable access to high quality science learning. RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees one director, three managers, and 8 part-time staff Oversees a budget of $500,000 to $1,000,000 Manages relationships with close to 1,000 potential partners WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. REPORTS TO: Chief Learning Officer MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors of Science or Arts degree 7 or more years of community engagement or development with a record of achieving strategic outcomes and delivering on an organization's mission experience Demonstrated success in setting goals and strategic planning around diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging initiatives Knowledge and understanding of the role of meetings, events, and other experiences to build a sense of community amongst stakeholders Commitment to contribute to enhancing the healthy team environment at the museum, coaching others to develop their full potential as valued members of the team Bi-lingual English-Spanish (both written and spoken) Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team Skillful organizer with demonstrated problem-solving initiative Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including public speaking and presenting to a wide array of audiences Experience developing and implementing plans and strategies to meet mutually-agreed upon goals and objectives in the areas of membership and community engagement Financial experience necessary to develop and manage departmental budget along with creative approaches to increase ROI History of inspiring others and leading by example STARTING SALARY: Exempt (Salaried). $125,000-130,000 / year BENEFITS: Benefits for full-time, exempt (salaried) staff include: free parking, T accessibility, 23 vacation days, 12 holidays, 10 sick days, medical, dental, and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, retirement and savings plan, health care/dependent care flex spending plan, employee discounts, employee referral program, tuition assistance, professional development, direct deposit, free admission, free Duck Tours, discounted movie passes, and much more!
