Position: Safety Specialist/Industrial Hygienist Location: Minnesota Ore (Minntac) Duration: Contract Job Description: Must-Haves (Soft Skills) Nice-To-Haves (Soft Skills) Degree Requirements None-ideally an Engineering background. Ideally an Engineering student from one of the local community colleges. Certification Requirements MSHA training. 24 hour course. If candidate does not already have per Kent Swanson USS will arrange with local college and pay for course. Job Description: *Support the Director of Safety Auditing and Training by organizing and leading safety and industrial hygiene audits on a global basis.*Lead the efforts towards applying and managing a uniform safety and industrial hygiene document management system for the organization.*Lead the efforts to develop, revise, and maintain as current, global safety and industrial hygiene standard practices in support of the operating and maintenance organization.*Serve as a safety and industrial hygiene technical expert in the development of training modules and plans for consistent roll-out and implementation of safety and industrial hygiene standard practices.*Construct and implement an effective skills enhancement methodology to be applied to new and recently promoted members of the global safety and industrial hygiene staff.*Implement and lead a safety and industrial hygiene mentoring process to ensure effective skill transfer and development of the safety and industrial hygiene staff.*Serve as the safety and industrial hygiene technical resource and expert, working with the engineering function in the design and construction of new or significantly modified facilities.*Analyze safety and industrial hygiene data and provide predictive indicators to be used as proactive tools in the prevention of injuries and illnesses.*Research and provide innovative ideas, best practices, new technology from other manufacturing and technology segments to help move the safety process forward.
