Requisition Id 13052 Overview: The Integrated Operations Support Division (IOSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Reliability, Maintainability, and Sustainability (RM&S) Group Lead. The RM&S group leader will drive Facility and Operations’ efforts to implement comprehensive asset management and predictive operations programs, including condition assessments and facility information validation, and support ORNL’s sustainability and net-zero initiatives. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of standards and best practices to improve facility and system reliability. Major Duties/Responsibilities: Provide direct line management of the Facility Information Management System (FIMS) team, the Energy Efficiency & Sustainability team, and the Reliability team. Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management and predictive maintenance strategy to ensure optimal lifecycle performance of facility assets. Partner with directorate leadership, facility and system engineers, and complex facility managers to ensure equipment improvements are achieved through standardized asset management programs and techniques. Provide a roadmap and strategies to move the organization forward through an Asset Management maturation process. Promote a culture of reliability across all levels of the organization through training and setting the example. Develop a reliability engineering function focused on continuous improvement. Conduct regular assessments of building systems and equipment to identify maintenance needs, potential upgrades, and replacements. Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs for facility assets. Establish and maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all facility assets, including equipment specifications, maintenance records, and lifecycle data. Develop and implement asset tracking and management systems to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Analyze data and key performance indicators to identify trends, assess asset performance, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement. Identify conservation opportunities, formulate lifecycle cost-effective energy conservation measures and operational improvements. Apply traditional audit methods, such as benchmarking and building walkthroughs, as well as advanced methods, such as remote energy analytics and monitoring-based commissioning. Support the implementation of Guiding Principles for Federal Sustainable Buildings within existing buildings. Assist with reporting in response to calls from ORNL management, ORNL Sustainable Campus Initiative, the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science, and the DOE Sustainability Performance Office, as well as prepare technical reports that address these calls. Lead the team that conducts facility condition assessments and reports inspection data through ORNL’s Electronic Condition Assessment System (E-CAS) and DOE’s Condition Assessment Information System (CAIS). Support the coordination of the team’s annual DOE FIMS validation with the ORNL Site Office, Office of Science, and DOE MA-50 staff. Provide mentoring and career growth opportunities to group members. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering-related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience leading technical projects or teams. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the ISO 55000 series of International Standards for Asset Management. Industry certifications, including but not limited to: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Facilities Management Professional (FMP) Certified Facility Manager (CFM) Experience working in buildings identifying Energy Conservation Measures. Proficiency in continuous improvement tools and methods such as Lean and Six Sigma. Certifications are desirable. Previous energy management, sustainability or facilities management, or operations experience. General knowledge and field experience with facility systems, including building envelope, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to present ideas, findings, and recommendations in a logical, concise manner. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after an offer is made. Q or L clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
