SUMMARY: This position is responsible for diagnosing and treating people for mental illnesses. The psychiatrist will usea variety of modalities to provide treatment including psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, cognitive-behavioraltherapy (CBT), and medication. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: May refer a patient for psychological testing to determine a diagnosis and its severity. Diagnose and treat mental illness through a combination of personal counseling or psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization and medication. Talking to the patients' about their problems to try to resolve them. Coach patients through changing behavioral patterns and explore past experiences. Prescribe medication to correct chemical imbalances that cause some mental illnesses. Design and recommend treatment plans for patients. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook. Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements. Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan. Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan. Be present and ready for work as scheduled. Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings and community events. Work cohesively with team members. Performs studies/analysis to determine impact for: Healthcare outcomes. Policy change positives or negatives. Departmental efficiencies Meet or exceed annual productivity standards. Utilizes technology to create a more efficient and effective way of doing business. Maintain confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the institution. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and / or the Chief Executive Officer. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Staff Psychiatrist must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Medical School. LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Board certified or Board eligible in Psychiatry. Staff Psychiatrist must be licensed to PracticePsychiatry in the State of Louisiana and possess a Medical School Diploma, Board CertificationNotification and/or Residency Training Certificate. Federal and State DEA Certificates. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge centered around sound judgement based on license training. SUPERVISES: None.
