Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk managementStrong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to businessStrong communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skillsClear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. Previous consulting experience is a plusTechnology: Build well-managed data solutions, tools, and capabilities to enable self-service frameworks for data consumers. Demonstrate ability to explore and quickly grasp new technologies to progress varied initiativesBusiness Intelligence: Partner with the business to provide consultancy and translate the business needs to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization. Drive analysis that provides meaningful insights on business strategiesExecution: Involve problem frame-works, develop hypotheses, test and analysis, solution development, scope operational feasibility, lead implementation efforts and develop a monitoring planPartnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including Go-to-Market (Sales, Customer Success, and RevOps), Product, Technology, Operations (BizTechOps and Process Excellence), and partner teams (Finance, Risk, and others).Basic Qualifications:Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree plus at least 5 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree plus at least 3 years in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.At least 3 years of experience in at least one scripting languageAt least 1 year of experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization toolAt least 3 years of experience in querying and analyzing and working with data languages and platformsPreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics disciplineAt least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQLAt least 4 years of experience working within process management and improvement methodologies - Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.At least 2 years of experience utilizing and developing within AWS servicesAt least 2 years of experience delivering Data Governance and Data Quality Management concepts and practices within the financial services industryAt this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.Remote (Regardless of Location): $113,600 - $129,700 for Principal Data AnalystCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
