Overview Provides on-site and/or telephone technical support for network and PC analytical and troubleshooting service to Powertech's users experiencing a wide range of hardware, software, peripheral and applications problems. Major Responsibilities and Duties Provides on-site and/or telephone technical support for network and PC analytical and troubleshooting service to Local Area Network (LAN) and mid-range computer systems users experiencing a wide range of hardware, software, peripheral and applications problems, questions users to identify and diagnose the nature of problems, reason for loss of service, client impact etc. follows up to identify operating problems within established problem resolution targets; notifies others if major or escalating problems are encountered; logs problems and documents incidents and remedies. Analyzes and determines the operation status, nature and cause(s) of hardware and software problems by reviewing system and equipment performance status reports, screen messages, logs, printouts, etc. operates diagnostic test software and equipment; follows up to correct system/equipment performance and service quality. Performs technical LAN administration functions such as maintaining the system and resolving problems associated with user access information: by referring to technical Information or discussing solutions with other staff; performing daily backups; maintaining logs, updating databases, monitors performance statistics on LAN servers and ensures the optimization of LAN performance; monitors WAN/Internet connection and interacts with senior staff or vendor support to ensure connectivity is maintained. Coordinates the purchase of hardware and software; research new standard hardware and software products to prepare technical reports and recommends or rejects the product.
