The Department of Public Works (DPW) supports Nova Scotia’s 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, 4,100 bridges, and 9 provincial ferries. The Vehicle Transportation Inspection is a Division of DPW and are responsible for safety and compliance through education, inspections and enforcement for all road users that operate on our highways. We inspire public confidence in the public passenger transportation service through education and enforcement of Acts and Regulations that pertain to all road users in our province. About Our Opportunity Under the general supervision of the Regional Manager, the Motor Vehicle Inspector 2 (Compliance Station Inspector) interacts with the commercial trucking industry with the view of ensuring the safety of all road users and protecting the highway infrastructure of Nova Scotia. Primary Accountabilities The Compliance Station Inspector is expected to verify vehicle compliance with the Motor Vehicle Act and any Regulations that deal with commercial vehicles. They also conduct vehicle mechanical and document inspections, under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance guidelines.
